Decide what a valuable sale looks like
Advertising revenue is only one part of an ecommerce business. Product margin, fulfilment costs, returns, discounts, and the cost of serving customers all affect what remains after the sale. Agree on the commercial outcome before judging campaigns by a single dashboard metric.
Give every creative a clear hypothesis
Treat an ad as a test of a customer insight. Is the hook about convenience, product quality, a specific use case, or a common objection? Keep a simple testing record with the angle, audience, destination, and outcome. Change deliberately so you learn which message is doing the work.
Continue the same promise on the product page
A visitor should recognise the offer they clicked. Match the ad’s product, positioning, and terms to the landing page. Make price, product details, delivery expectations, and return information easy to find. On mobile, test the entire purchase path with the same care you give the creative.
Read the journey as a sequence
Look at product views, add-to-cart activity, checkout starts, and completed orders as connected stages. A break between stages suggests a question to investigate, not an automatic diagnosis. Product uncertainty, unexpected delivery costs, payment friction, and poor message alignment require different responses.
Use more than one view of performance
Platform reporting is useful for campaign decisions, while store orders and business costs anchor the commercial picture. Compare periods consistently, account for promotions and product availability, and distinguish new customers from returning ones where your data supports it. Avoid treating one attribution view as the full story.
Build the loop before scaling
Connect what you learn from support questions, product reviews, returns, and repeat purchases back into creative and product-page improvements. Scale when demand, conversion, fulfilment, and economics can support the increase. More spend should amplify a working system rather than hide an unresolved problem.
Creative gets attention. A consistent offer, usable store, and sound unit economics turn it into sustainable growth.
